Showers (part 2 of 2)

As I said to start out my previous post, JD and I are so incredibly grateful for our friends in Oregon, Florida and spread out throughout the country!

I have been very lucky to get to know a great group of women here in Florida. Several of them are the wives of 2nd year medical students, but there are some law students and the wife of an engineering student as well. One of the women, Mitzi, had her 2nd child during her husbands first week or two of medical school last year - talk about stressful! At least we're mostly settled and JD has a bit of a handle on med school by now.

Mitzi offered to throw us a diaper shower, which we gratefully accepted, and boy did she and my other friends go all out!

There were a ton of gluten-free treats, cider, and great decorations!

My Mother-in-law was able to come down from Jacksonville for the shower, too, which was a lot of fun. She got to see JD briefly in the evening when he got home from school and before we headed over, and then briefly the next morning before he had to head in to school. It was great to spend some time with her before the baby arrives!

We played a few fun games at the shower, too, including one that I hadn't seen before. We had a pumpkin with candy that we had to pass from person to person, but the trick was that we had to come up with an answer before we could pass it on. The person caught with the pumpkin the timer went off lost. Some of the topics included baby boy names in alphabetical order (there were some creative ones!), baby items, Halloween movies, etc. I lost pretty early on, but there was some intense competition as the game went on until there were only 2 people left. We made them come up with baby items in alphabetical order :) We allowed a few creative responses!

It was so great to be surrounded by such wonderful people & get a great start on our diaper supplies! We got some other great gifts as well, but what mattered the most to me was the friendship and support.  Its great knowing that this baby boy will be so welcomed in this world!
